What I Need for a Tropical Getaway

What’s your favorite thing about summer? Mine is the vacations I’ll get to take with my closest friends and all the pineapple smoothies that’ll be available! As I’m packing for a beachy trip in a few months, I thought it’d be appropriate to share a few of my own essentials for a tropical vacation. Here’s what I absolutely need:

Maxi dress: Preferably one that can easily convert into a skirt. This saves space in your luggage and is great for your sanity if you might be packing last minute! See how I converted mine and styled it in last week’s post. Tip: I find that wrap dresses work best. Loving this colorful one from Nordstrom Rack, and this comfy red one all under $25.

Sunscreen: The worst thing about coming home from a trip is missing your flight, but missing your flight WITH a sunburn? That has to top it off. My Aveeno moisturizer contains SPF 30 already, but I like to lightly layer on Neutrogena’s sunscreen for extra protection when I know I’ll be in the harsh sun all day. Although these are my holy grails, my friend, Jessica, has other great picks priced from $20-$40 in her post here!

Supportive swimsuit top: I’ve always been a fan of Aerie’s swimsuits since my girls have never fallen out with their tops. Aerie also came out with padded swim bandeaus that pretty much give you the best blast from the past (think Clueless and Britney Spears era). It’s super convenient to pair them with a skirt and cute sandals to walk around the beach! In my opinion, these bandeaus are the best thing to happen to women’s swimsuits. I linked my favorite above in white, but it also comes in black, peach, coral, blue, and other fun colors for $25! There’s also another bandeau with crochet knitting that’s just a tad bit shorter – still cute! They all come with straps, too, in case you aren’t into the rad 90’s tube top. Clear Pouches: Probably the CUTEST and best pouch to fit everything without worrying about your things getting wet since it’s PVC material. I got mine at Target, but I’m linking other bags I love! —– Rainbow from ban.do // Seashell from ban.do //  Small Clear and Pink half – moons from Madewell // Large Floral half-moon from Madewell (photos from ban.do and Madewell)

Comfy sandals: because we all need to walk, am I right?! I’m linking all of my favorites from Target that are all under $30! — Strappy White // Navy Ankle Strap // Cognac Slide (designer dupes, say whaaaat?!) // Baby Blue Strappy Sandal Flats // Blue Slide Sandals // White Ankle Strap with low wedge

Now that you know what I’m bringing on my trip, I’d love to know what you can’t travel to a tropical location with! Fave sunscreens or other great swimsuits? Leave them below!

With love,

Susan
