Books You Need Part 1

Susan Fave Books

Of my endless shelves of books, I’ve narrowed it down to the 3 you need to read. Here’s why: Reading prevents early onset (and maybe altogether) Alzheimer’s, you gain a larger vocabulary, and I’ve heard it helps you to better empathize with people. The last reason is definitely one that we all need, in my opinion. More KINDNESS, people!!! Let me tell you what my taste is first- I’ve always loved twisted, dark-humored mystery type of books, like Gone Girl. But I also really love classic books written way back when that are able to pretty much tell the future like, The Handmaid’s Tale. Knowing this, here are the three I recommend you read ASAP:

  1. The Handmaid’s Tale: First things first, Margaret Atwood is Freaking. Brilliant. I feel like I need to lead into this small review with praise. The Handmaid’s Tale is one that makes you think about life, society, your worth, and your grandbabies’ futures (before you even have children). It foreshadows what life can become when a nation’s leader believes that sectionality, identical identities, and particular duties for specific classes of people are the solution to the people’s problems. It’s chaotic, maddening, and heart- wrenching. Pure brilliance. The Handmaid's Tale
  2. The Paris Wife: Pretty much the fictional take of Ernest Hemingway’s life in the eyes of his wife. It incorporates what their life was like before and after he pursued his dreams of being an author. Plus, I love Paris… So, I may be biased, hahah. The Paris Wife Susan
  3. The Book Thief: I’m working on finishing this book, but it’s already made me cry 5 times… I’m still only in the beginning. Nuff said. Hahah, I’ll obviously update you all when I finish. All you have to know is that it’s so great. Buy it. Borrow it. Read it. The Book Thief Susan

PLEASE let me know what y’all think, and if you like these types of posts. I love reading and am happy to share my thoughts and further recommendations! Thanks and love y’all!

With love,

Susan
